Volunteer at the Hoedown

Updated February 1, 2013.

Are you ready to dance?  We hope so!  Many of you have volunteered at IAGLCWDC conventions or at the Emerald City Hoedown in the past and have helped to make them a success.  For those of you who haven’t participated before, we hope you will join us… it is rewarding (it will feed your karma), you’ll meet new folks, and you’ll have fun doing it, too.  Help make this year the biggest and best Hoedown yet.

Here are some of the volunteer roles we need (there will be more):

  • Workshops assistants (in the larger rooms), to help instructors with their music
  • Setup for the eye-openers, socials, and after-hours parties
  • Decorating the ballroom
  • Setting up the silent auction
  • Setting up and tearing down sound equipment
  • Registration
  • Door monitors during dances and the competition

Stay tuned for more information!

If you would like to volunteer during the hoedown — even just for an houre or two — please contact lipsky, our volunteer coordinator, at volunteer@emeraldcityhoedown.com to get on our volunteer email list.

Scholarships and Work/Registration Trade

We know some dancers may be unable to to attend at regular registration rates, and we don’t want to turn anyone away.

You may apply for a scholarship from the IAGLCWDC’s Tyler Goolsby Scholarship Fund on this page.  Scholarship applications for this year’s hoedown convention are due by February 23.

We also have made provision for work/registration trade, where we can discount registration rates for volunteers contributing a large block of volunteer time. If this option is something that you need, please contact lipsky, our volunteer coordinator, at volunteer@emeraldcityhoedown.com.
