Volunteer at the Hoedown

Updated December 2, 2015

Are you ready to dance?  We hope so!  Many of you have volunteered at the Emerald City Hoedown in the past and have helped to make it a success.  For those of you who haven’t participated before, we hope you will join us… it is rewarding (it will feed your karma), you’ll meet new folks, and you’ll have fun doing it, too.  Help make this year the biggest and best Hoedown yet.

Here are some of the volunteer roles we need (there will be more):

  • Registration
  • Transporting dance floor and other equipment (Thursday evening and either Sunday evening or on Monday)
  • Setting up and breaking down sound equipment and dance floors (Friday morning and Sunday afternoon)
  • Setup for the eye-openers, socials, and after-hours parties
  • Workshops assistants, to help instructors with their music
  • Decorating the ballroom (dinner break on Friday and Saturday)
  • Door monitors during dances (Friday and Saturday evenings)

If you would like to volunteer during the hoedown — even just for an houre or two — please contact our volunteer coordinators, lipsky and Kate, at volunteer@emeraldcityhoedown.com to get on our volunteer email list.

A list of volunteer needs and the ability to sign up for them directly will be available early in 2016 through Jooners.com — please look at the options and sign yourself up!

Scholarships and Work/Registration Trade

We know some dancers may be unable to to attend at regular registration rates, and we don’t want to turn anyone away.

We have made provision for work/registration trade, where we can discount registration rates for volunteers contributing a large block of volunteer time, more than just an hour or two. If this option is something that you need, please contact lipsky and Kate at volunteer@emeraldcityhoedown.com.
